I’ve blogged about this before, asking questions like “show me the Bible verse that associates elongated skulls with the nephilim,” and pointing out that the phenomena is well-known in the medical and anthropological fields. (I even posted pictures of models of various skull deformations — all of which you can find on the Internet as examples of nephilim or alien hybrids). To be blunt, using models obtained from medical supply companies at prophecy or new age or general weirdness conferences and telling folks they are about nephilim is just dishonest.
Anyway, I’m having this spasm tonight because I recently came across an interesting article about cranial modification:
Duncan Hofling Why the Head? Cranial Modification as Protection and Ensoulment Among the Maya
The article is from the scholarly journal Ancient Mesoamerica 22:1 (Spring 2011). It’s very interesting and worth a read. I often get the question, “Why would people do this to their kids?” This article is helpful, at least for the Mayan examples.
For those new to actual research on skull elongation, and who perhaps would like to be weaned from internet nonsense about the subject, here’s another article (relevant to Peruvian specimens). It’s from the medical journal Child’s Nervous System, vol 21 (2005):
Schijman Artificial cranial deformation in newborns in the pre-Columbian Andes
Again, these skulls have nothing to do with the nephilim.
Well of course elongated skulls have nothing to do with nephilim – it was an attempt to resemble our alien xenomorph ancestors.
right … which is why there’s all that textual or oral tradition from the Peruvians and Maya about those kinds of aliens!
Firstly, please forgive me for saying that I’m a huge fan.
I know that you consider LA Marzulli to be a colleague if not a friend, and so I’m sure that you are familiar with his contemporaneous research in this field. I wondered what your thoughts were on the conspicuous lack of a parietal suture on a select few of the specimens that he has examined?
Thanks for your time!
Blessings in Christ!
I have posted on this in the past — and you can find the material in medical journals — *natural* deformities and unnatural cranial altering are sometimes not detected even by X-Rays. I speak here of modern examples where the cause of the head deformations are known. An example of natural deformation where “The entire length of each suture is not always visible on plain radiographs, and some patients have only a small bony bar limiting growth at a particular suture” = craniosyntosis = http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/407856-overview
So this absence proves nothing at all. In fact, what I want to see is a lab report (from a real lab) about such absences and about such specimens — not a naked eye opinion by someone for a TV spot. Marzulli should be doing some research that gives his audience this sort of information. And it would help to establish some sort of biblical basis for a connection between elongated skulls and nephilim / giant clans. I know of no such biblical basis. In short, I think the whole elongated skull thing is bogus.
Some have nothing to do with head boarding or artificial cranial deformation. These demi gods had a larger brain volume than humans. Also there brain suitures are different . I guess Brien Forester’s work are liars. I agree a lot with Michael Hessier work but we don’t even know what we don’t know out there still. We been lied to about everything which needs to be questioned. Mainstream and controlled religion will always live inside the box.
They aren’t gods. Head shape is not a evidence or proof of divinity.
Dr. Jacques Vallee, in Messengers of Deception, has pointed out that there’s a great deal of disinformation and sheer wishful thinking that surrounds the UFO phenomenon and I can only imagine that it’s much the same with the nephilim. Coming from a Catholic perspective I can point out that St. Augustine- in City of God I believe- vigorously opposed the idea that the ‘giants’ were the offspring of human women and fallen angels. I tend to agree with the Saint on this one; any idea of divine beings coming down from heaven to earth and siring semi-divine children on human women strikes me as borrowing too liberally from the pagan fables.

No but they were fake gods and ruled over humans.

what precisely do you mean by “the watchers”?
There is some genetic evidence of some types of cranial malformation (e.g., Egyptian pharaohs in the New Kingdom). I’d be VERY hesitant to base anything on a fetal example because the bones are either not fully formed or much softer. I remember when my first child was born, she had a rough time coming out. They had to use suction. It really put a cone on her head. The doctors said not to worry — the skull parts/sections were not yet together and they were flexible. True enough in a few weeks she looked completely normal. (And still is!) 🙂
