This news item if course isn’t the only such element in either of my novels that have made it to public discourse after publication. I’ve blogged a number of them before. Just thought readers would enjoy this:
The First Demonstration Of Self-Propelled Nanobots In A Living Animal
Question Mike: You portray this in the Portent as the mechanism of Brian’s healing abilities, but that this went back to Area 51 in the Facade. So, you knew this since when before 2001? Can you clarify this part?
Brian doesn’t have healing “abilities” – the nanobots in his blood do what they were designed to do. That was in The Facade as you note — so yes, around 2001.
Right, that’s what I meant, his “ability” comes from the nanobots in his blood stream. Thanks for the clarification.
Hi Mike 🙂
I came across this video on you tube accidentally which talks about Graphene – ‘a one atom thick perfect electrical capacitor’ that can be rolled into nanotubes. It also bends light… It dumbs down the science part of it so that lay people can understand it. It’s truly interesting and further supports the nanobot technology you talk about in the Facade and Portent. But Graphene apparently takes it a bit further… thought it would be worth checking out for your future musings 😉 If you got a second check it out. Its about 3 minutes or so:

I’ll add it to my “weird science” flowchart (stuff to think about and use for future sequels). Thanks!

The film made according to the report witness.
