Well, this is a bummer if you’ve been earning your living as part of the grand conspiracy run by the Catholic Church to conceal the damning truths in the Dead Sea Scrolls. You know — how the Church has tried to suppress the fact that Christianity has doctrinal touchpoints with Judaism, and how some of its ideas come straight out of Judaism . . . no, wait . . . that’s what the New Testament book of Acts tells us. Someone tell the Vatican Library! (Or, better, Michael Baigent so he can get a clue).
In case you want to see the beginnings of a very cool project to put the original scrolls online in high resolution images — before the Pope and the secret bloodline descendants of Jesus and their allies from the Pleiades find out and clamp down on the project — here’s the link.
so christianity was derived out judaism? is that true or does it just have some similaritys ? im going for my phd. myself mike u got a cool site
Thanks; my advice is read the book of Acts in the NT. The first Christians were Jews who believed Jesus was the promised Jewish messiah. New Testament theology is built on the foundation of the (Jewish) Old Testament. Christians believe both are equally inspired by God.
i mean judaism doesnt believe in jesus at all do they?
A modern Jew who would not accept Christ as messiah would think of him as a prophetic figure or Jewish sage.
After studying in detail Judaism and knowing about Christianity, I have to say that Jesus (or Yehoshua) was nothing but another prophet or a leader of a specific jewish movement. We should not forget that Jesus was an so called ultra-orthodox Jew, and who apparently was against the Rabbinic movement which developed and got more power in those times. It also seems that the leaders of the Rabbinic movement (who were also in power at that time) have conspirated against Jesus movement, and this is how he and his followers (all Jews) got punished. It was strictly a political fight for power, not really that much about Judaism itself. I’m not clear about Jesus ideology and what he wanted to do, if it was spreading the Jewish teachings all over the world (and not keep it only for Jews) or if he had a different perspective on how Judaism socially had to be “implemented”, but he definitely had disagreements with the Rabbinic movement.
So, it is on the other hand funny to see Christians sometimes hating Jews for their religion, but to the same time loving Jesus.
Orthodox Christianity (as it can be found in Greece or Russia/Romania) it still has very old elements from the old Christianity (meaning very close to Judaism).
LM, Jesus’ idealogy is painted quite clearly in the Old Testament. His main goal was to spread the Word of His Father, God, to all the people’s and to eliminate a lot of the old traditional things the Jews had been used to doing since God’s promise to Abraham. The Rabbi’s of that time held a lot of power over the Jews and the Gentiles, and Jesus stressed that they really had no power at all. This is why they wanted him dead. The Old Testament states several times that the new Messiah will come into the world as a lamb, riding on a donkey. This can be referenced to his birth, as Mary rode into Jeruselum on a donkey, or before his crucifixtion, where he rides into town on a donkey. The Jewish people unfortunately believed he was their savior and warrior to rid their land of the Romans and because he was not a warrior, they dismissed him. Of course Christianity is not what Christ meant it to be. You cannot be a Christian and condemn others’ for their beliefs. I’m not a Christian but I am a follower of Christ. Hope this helps a little. Good luck with your studies.
