Are there any credible translations of the tablets Sitchen and VonDaniken wrote so much about?
There are several anthologies of ancient Sumerian and Akkadian (= Mesopotamian cuneiform) texts. NONE of them contain Sitchin’s core ideas, since there are no tablets that contain those ideas. Sitchin didn’t do any translation work, and von Daniken was a journalist/con man. If you want to read scholarly translations of things like Enuma Elish, Gilgamesh, Atrahasis, Enki and the World Order, etc. the best and most complete item is Benjamin Foster’s book, Before the Muses (I think you can get it in one volume today – used to be two). A distilled version of that work, also by Foster, is his book, From Distant Days.
thank you, I’ll look in to that.
Dr. Heiser,
Is there any validity, in your opinion, to P.J. Wiseman’s “tablet hypothesis”?
I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
