So says Peter Griffiths, a former Scientology member. You can listen to Natalina’s fascinating interview of Mr. Griffiths here.

Wow, considering that Scientology was created by a man trying to skip paying income tax, a man who had bragged that he could create a religion because people are basically stupid – could anything better be expected?
Welcome to the party, Natalina.
Welcome to the party.

Why you care:
Chapter 7, ‘Black Magic and Betty’
I prefer “Fun with Alistair Crowley”
Reads like fiction. Burns like truth.
I don’t want to get sued so I won’t call it a hideous, soul-stealing, satanically derived scam.
Like Mom said, “It’s all fun and games until somebody puts an eye out.”
As always, Best.
Considering L.Rons ties to Aleister Crowley and Jack Parsons, its possibly even more sinister an organisation than it appears (if thats possible!)
I hear you. But to be honest, having sex parties with drugs and incantation mumbo-jumbo isn’t something that strikes fear into me. I think Crowley and his cohorts, though serious about what they were doing, shouldn’t be feared in any way. Okay, you look like a mad uncle Fester. Big deal. People with actual criminal records ought to be feared, not hedonistic clowns. Fearing them GIVES them influence.
Absolutely! Its not fearing them that concerns me, its the measure of influence they have had, and still have over so many that concerns me. I know I am venturing into the world of ‘conspiracies’, but no matter which way you look at it, new age cults, demon worshiping members of the Adams family etc, the name of the (end) game is deception – Crowley remarked himself about getting em whilst they’re young and they’re yours forever – now look at his influence within music, and how many hes indirectly reached though that device.
The new age mindset is growing strong, here in England the word Christian is very much a dirty word, but anything else, no matter how ridiculous, is interesting!
Have you seen Going Clear? The new documentary on Scientology? Think you would enjoy it.
Not yet, but several friends have recommended it.
My bad.
I forgot people would get excited by the sex/drugs/rock-‘n-roll of the narrative. This stuff never seems to rise above dreary to reach the heights of tawdry. Each succeeding generation “discovers” all this nonsense and floods the culture with tales of debauchery (rock ‘stars’) while the metaphysicians discover “New Frontiers” (Shirley Maclaine).*yawn*…
Lewis, a classicist, covers a lot of this ground in “The Four Loves”. T4Ls is, I believe, the only surviving recording of C.S.Lewis. It gives us real dimension, via cadence and inflection, to his writings. A guilty pleasure to hear “polite disdain” done well.
Oh.
My point.
Sorry you missed the part where L Ron and this merry band of idiots actually stir up the “B team”. Ronniebaby gets whacked and ends up with his arm paralyzed for a while. There’s your foundation for $cienscammery. It really does matter what you open yourself up to.
So.
The next time you hear this foolishness or watch some bozo hop around on Opra’s couch; give pause.
The Church Lady was right.
Best.
