This episode is now live.
During this year’s annual academic meetings (Evangelical Theological Society, Society of Biblical Literature, ASOR, AAR, etc.) I stopped various attendees and asked them a few short questions about themselves and the event. If you wanted to know who goes to these things and what happens, here you go!
Oh, this is good, this is good Mike. It gives me again the same spirit that descended on me when I went to the two meetings this spring in Portland. And that is the spirit that ” this is one of the things I have been looking for all my life.” I mean , to those of us who fell in love with Christ, to go to meetings where brothers and sisters are are there to talk about mainly nothing else but the deeper Theologies that we so dearly love ! Heaven. Absoulutly loved the talk with the Lutheren, since I was raised Lutheran, and am presently now very involved in wisely ,and SLOWLY, introducing your teachings into two Lutheran churches I am involved with. Some of the meetings I attend during the week are intimate meetings where I can Easily bring up things from your teachings. —-Also really liked the trucker Theologian line. Even though I dont quite fit that character,I am simple Firewood seller, ( my tent – making occupation) but since I am actually a missionary ,having lived for that purpose most of my life, I don’t quite fit the ” Trucker Theologian” thing, and yet I really appreciate that little line in this interview. Since I kinda had to take on a face ,Something like that anyway, when I came to those meetings with you in Portland ,where I found myself with the big boys of Theology. Lol — And this is a good place to say something that will be helpful, because I know that this is going to be a spirit watch, once you get more guys like me coming to those meetings ,to meet you, who have deep walks with God, but maybe not have done as much book work as you have done. In brotherly love now, I want to prick you a little bit about what you say about that part in scripture ” The Spirit will lead you into all truth” Now I know, as a biblical scholar, you probably don’t have that verse on your wall as your” Favorite ” verse, and kind of am humored ,that you tell us how that verse in context is really talking about the things Jesus had just said in the surrounding verses, but you don’t mention the Other places in scripture that Clearly talk about how the truth of God come by REVELATION LoL And therfore a guy who is not a scholar, but who ” DOES His will , and therefore Knows the doctrine” like Jesus said, and gets truth Revealed to them , simply because God has chosen to do so, is the way God designed things in love ,just to keep us level, and make us need each other ,in a beautiful way! LoL Well, let’s keep a non- hasty spirit in these meetings, and ,by the way, I have really got the Theological messaging you gave by telling us of that peaceful, heavenly type place ” on the sides of the north” where you have come to live out practically your teachings, by living there in a heavenly garden type place. No wonder men of God throughout history have this connection with mounts ,and taking it slow, and all that sort of thing.
Next year Trey and I may rent a booth to do video interviews. It depends on how expensive booths are. The meetings are in San Antonio, so it’s fairly close for him. We’ll see. Glad you liked them!
