Think about the title to this post. It doesn’t assert that all or even most UFO witnesses are liars. It doesn’t say they are cranks, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or otherwise buffoonish. In my experience, people who report UFOs are anything but. What the title does suggest, however, is that reports, even detailed ones, really cannot be deemed as evidence that what is seen is in fact extraterrestrial. In principle that may be the case, but that determination must be made on other grounds.

Even if accurate, the eyewitness reports alone are not enough to prove alien visitation. They need to lead us to corroborating evidence.
Maybe its just me, but I’ve noticed two things about recept UFO reports:
1) no one sees aliens anymore (except under hypnosis)
2) only a very tiny percentage see actual craft (most see just lights, which only imply a craft)
agreed, and I think your observations at least point out a trend, if not something more categorical. I think it’s certain to say the overwhelming number of “sightings” are alien-less. And the “lights vs. craft” thing rings true to my ear, though I wouldn’t know what percentage to put on it.
LIGHTS VS CRAFT
I always go back to what Jesus (Yashua) seems to have said. I am not a Christian but I believe J.C. existed and that he had a lot to say about these demonic beings. He stated that in the End Times their would be “lying signs and wonders” in the sky. It is hard to know for sure because the Bible has been do doctored but it would appear that he cautioned us to beware of an End Time Con Job. Yes the lights seem to be something else. I am thinking of the light that came down on the Dome of the Rock and then shot back up. They remind me of what it is like to shoot a little laser pen at the wall. The laser light bounces around when we play with it. The light above the Dome of the Rock shot up as if it were a laser beam that someone sitting behind a machine was directing. I still think that we have technology to produce “lying signs and wonders” in our skies and when I say we I am referring to the Shadow Government and Military. I also think that much of what people are seeing in the skies are holograms or a UFO that has been projected into the skies. Some seem to be in another dimension also where they really are not physically in our 3 dimensional world. I was just thinking about the incident in California in the 1940 where thousands of rounds of ammunition was shot at a craft in the sky which to me looked like it may have been a holographic image and not really there at all. I think we need to talk about the fact that not everything seen is a physical object.
