Before this gets mis-reported all over the web on Christian sites that promote phony Photo-shopped pictures as proof of giants in the ancient world, I thought I’d post it. Here is the link; the photo is below. And I’ll save you the conversion time. 193 cm = just under six feet, four inches, not ten or fifteen feet. Unusually tall for Chinese (these days) but right in the range I’ve suggested constituted a giant in the ancient world (anything over six feet tall upward into the seven foot range — sort of like today on the higher end).
I will add this to strengthen your point: People in the past may have been shorter but that is likely the result of diet and food availability, not from any genetic differences with us today. The environment plays a crucial part in developement, so it’s understandable that populations would have been short and yet still have individuals at the tall end of normal. The occasional six-footer in antiquity would be inevitable, not the result of special providence. (The same goes with longevity: though average lifespans were dramatically shorter in the past, that doesn’t mean some lucky people could never become elderly — just as old as our elderly of today.)
When I am in Toronto’s Chinatown, grandparents come up to my chin, parents are about my height, and college-age children tower over me. That does not mean the children were sired by angels.
6 feet 4? I was think this guy was like, the next fossil giant of Castelnau, some 11 foot beast or somethin.
When I first read this article, I was sort of expecting that Giant of Castelnau sort of moment, but hey 6 foot 4 isn’t bad.

I didn’t say it was a hoax – I said it was a bit over six feet tall but would be used by some to argue for proof of giants.
This kid was 6 foot 4.. That is tall but no giant.
The bones of Actual giants over 9 feet tall have been found in Georgia, near Borjomi in 2008.

The Soviet TASS news agency is *not* a reputable news source. 20 years ago it was viewed as a primo source of propaganda. Give me an actual archaeological report from an actual archaeologist whose credentials can be checked and you’ll get my attention, not before.
