I was on with Debbie Chavez this morning, who’s local in Bellingham, WA. Debbie has a strong following in the mainstream due to her ministry to women. I’ve done interviews with Debbie before when she was a host at the local radio station KGMI. I thought this interview one was good, as it covered a lot of ground for the mainstream listener who would likely never have heard of this sort of content before. It might be a good link to share with “newbie” friends on social media.
Yes, it was good, it covered a full scope on things. — Right on to something I have observed though, and am wondering if you are aware of. When you give the teaching ( and I forget the scholarly term you used right now, I think ” Polemic?” ) but when you give the teaching about the Gen 6 story of the sons of God, being a reaction to what the Babylonian writers where saying about their gods, and that the biblical writer was like saying” No way, our God is the true one” etc, etc. Are you aware that it might be coming across like as if it is JUST a reaction, like as if they were not just innocently putting forth the truth? It is the same thing with the Joseph story, I don’t think Joseph was being a “brat” as I have heard some people say , when he told his kin the vision that he was going to rule over them. I think he was just speaking like the NT states ” The SPIRIT OF CHRIST in them was indicating” I am just saying this, because every time I hear or read you talking about this, I get the impression that your saying like as if the biblical writers where giving something less than just an innocent statement of The Truth? I mean it comes across like you are saying that it was more of JUST a Reaction, instead of just plainly telling the truth. I refer back to the Joseph story to illustrate what I mean. Joseph was just just telling the facts, not like He was being crafty to get his kin to worship him. I hope you understand what I am getting at, I am just trying to be helpful so that you make this clearer when you talk about this.— Humbly awaiting more light on this, your friend , Rob– And by the way , my whole foundational statement of involvement in this mission, is what you said back in the New Bern days , –You said,” I am just looking for a group of people who are serious about this” –So, just to let you know,I am really passionate about this whole corrective teaching that ou are bringing to light, and making your mission, my mission, I am going to keep an appropriate serious tone, as that is needed, in all my involvement with this. God knows
Not everything is a polemic, but a lot is. The biblical writers had a case to make (theologically), and there were ideas / belief systems they needed to target. And they do.
You always give such great interviews. You never talk over or talk down to the host. Always a pleasure.
Thanks!
Thanks for this post. I was trying to figure out how to introduce this subject to a friend who is a little creeped out by th OT. This is a good overview and one that should start to clarify things a little for her.
good!
