The episode is now live. It’s our first Q & A.
I didn’t ask a question since I assumed you’d be inundated with questions!
Very interesting and helpful episode. I’d be interested in the “leads” you mentioned in the end. Reminded of Craig Evans talking of popular writers like Dan Brown who’ll spend six months on a novel read by millions versus scholars who spends years writing a book maybe a dozen (other scholars) will read.
That’s frustrating to the interested laity. I often feel like the internet meme of the flustered school student who’s saying “I don’t even know what I don’t know.”
You’ll have to email me the specifics of this. I can’t even recall what I was talking about now. It’s been an awful month for deadlines from 3-4 directions.
Dr. Heiser – when you mentioned “leads” you were talking about how we could pretty much throw out popular “prophecy” teachers if we wanted to learn about the more interesting things embedded in the text. You said if we were interested you would be happy to provide some leads. I also, would be very interested in what kind of material I could be looking at aside from all of the pseudo-scholarship, with which we are regularly inundated.
if you email me I’ll send an example.
Again, absolutely enthralling!!! Every episode is better than the next!!!
Thank you Trey and Dr. Heiser!!!
Trey and Mike, I sent a series of questions to Trey. They aren’t directly related to the podcast material, more related to your Future Congress videos and the recent event in NC.
Hope you don’t mind tackling some of the questions.
There’s a bunch:)
He’ll share them with me. Thanks!
Let me know if you’d rather I email you directly since the questions aren’t directly related to the podcast material.
Thanks again for everything!!!
You could email them to me – put something about FC in the subject line. It’s been a bad month for email.
Very many thanks indeed, for all the PDF podcast transcripts and the latest JBL printout [ep.40]. These are of great value – the opportunity to read, re-read and mull over these great issues. A heartfelt thanks to you both – best wishes
John
Thanks!
I had a question, didn’t know if this was the right place for but, I was just reading Romans 1 and the last section of the chapter from 18 to the end of it, especially verse 24, where Paul talks about God giving them over to there own lust, reminded me a little of God’s disinheriting the nations in Genesis. Do you think this was on Paul’s mind when writing this, as it was his mission bring the Good News to the nations. I don’t know just a thought. Thanks for any insight.
I don’t think Romans 1 is specifically about Babel, but this language is why I refer to the judgment at Babel (via Deut 4:19-20; 32:8-9) as “the Romans 1 event of the OT.”
