Kudos to Rick Brannan over on Ricoblog for this one. Rick found some odd “science” in the Epistle of Barnabas (one of the Apostolic Fathers). Now, someone could of course say that the NT writers were immune from these kinds of quirky views, but we’d actually need evidence for that claim. Our best hope for that are passages where the biblical writers do discuss issues that touch on science or medicine. Then we can determine if the biblical writer shared the views of his day or not. We already know the answer to that in 1 Cor 11 (and Rick is kind enough to link back to our 1 Cor 11 discussion).
