I was fortunate to spend some time with Derek and Sharon Gilbert last week in Missouri. One of the things we talked about briefly was Annie Jacobsen’s work. I highly recommend her books Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base and Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America (though the former is disappointing for its lack of documentation on her take on Roswell). Derek interviewed in regard to her latest: The Pentagon’s Brain: An Uncensored History of DARPA, America’s Top-Secret Military Research Agency.
You can listen to Derek’s interview with Annie Jacobsen here. Can’t wait to read it (hopefully by year’s end).
Area 51 is being made into an AMC scripted television series with Gale Anne Hurd (Walking Dead, Terminator).
not familiar with the actress; another show I won’t have time to watch.
Isaiah 29 13-16, portions of ch 42 are informative as well.
Jacobsen. Child please.
The A51 book… I’m reasonably certain she discovered she had a remarkably crappy book. Her only “discovery” was that that “the stuff” was archived under the AEC/NRC. Unclassified.
She clumsily trowled the mystery man and the Horton flying bell nonsense at both ends to sell some books. Mission accomplished. Clumsy.*yawn*
Fool me once,…
People get their collective undies in a bunch over classified stuff. I concluded most of it was classified so my Mom wouldn’t find out what I was doing and make me come home.
Speaking of Moms. How’s yours coming with TheUR?

I, too, respect Jacobsen’s work and research skills. I’m confidently of the opinion that ‘Operation Paperclip’ is currently the premier source on the subject matter.
I’d agree.
Just finished Area 51…. library had it, plus Pentagon’s Brain and Paperclip…. found Area 51 fascinating. Deeply admired all the service members and civilians for what they did back then…lots of hard work. Looking forward to reading Paperclip and Pentagon’s Brain sometime some!
