In preparing for the ancient Egypt class I’ll be teaching in a couple weeks, I came across this article on John Greaves, a mathematician who was obsessed with ancient metrology (measurements) and the pyramids. The article is about him and his pursuits.

Hey I have a question regarding the dating of the Egyptian dynasties. Are there any articles on why the dating of some of the dynasties should be re-examined? I remember reading one that I can not locate and it was saying that there are some groups of scholars that are challenging the standard interpretation. I am not sure if this is in the proper blog? Any leads?
@Shiloh: there is a PILE of material on this. If you want book titles, the most well known is David Rohl’s “Test of Time”, but that has been broadly criticized. I think it’s a mixed bag, personally. Less attacked is “Centuries of Darkness” by Peter James (and others). For material on the web, check out the ISIS archive of the Journal of the Ancient Chronology Forum.
